A Beginners Guide to Gunpla!

Welcome to my new Blog, "Eoin the Gundam Guy"; where I talk about none other than Mobile Suit Gundam and most noticeably, the Gunpla Models based on the Mecha from the various shows. But I know what you're all thinking: What is a Gunpla? Well; let me explain...

Gunpla is the combination of two words: Gundam and Plastic, as they are plastic model kits that have been produced by Japanese company Bandai since the 1980's and come in three different types: High Grade, Real Grade and Master Grade; the cost depends on what type you're planning to buy.

But the sets overall are very simple; although some of them require stickers or paint to add certain details to the models, so let's move on the trickiest part of Gunpla: building the models. Upon buying your first Gunpla kit; you'll receive a number of runners containing the pieces that snap together to create the finished model, each separate piece is given a code and by following the instructions, you put together the separate parts to create the finished model. Pretty simple; unless you're a beginner like I am! You see, I was at a local Comic Con on Saturday where they had a stall were that was selling Gunpla models, so I bought the "High Grade Try Burning Gundam" kit for £20. I was so excited to get it built that I didn't care on how long it took me; which was 4 hours!

When it was finally finished; I could finally rest as I proudly displayed the model on top of it's box, which I kept since there was extra parts such as accessories and extra hands for different poses. The poses that I could would be awesome for animations; there are so many Gundams for the different anime, so the choice of model could be overwhelming at first, but once you've narrowed it down to how much you have and how much you want to spend; then the choice will be easier.
